How to back up your OnlyFans vault (and why you should keep your own copy)

Your OnlyFans vault is where your work lives, but it is not a backup. Storage in the vault is not limited, and that is exactly why it feels safe. The catch is that OnlyFans has no official way to export your whole vault. If a file exists only there, getting it back out is up to you.

This is about backing up your own content from your own account. Here is a routine that works.

Why a backup matters

Creators usually discover the problem at a bad moment:

  • A clip is missing from your phone and computer, and the vault is the only place left
  • You are rebuilding or moving to a new account and want your library with you
  • You deleted something by mistake and cannot get it back from the platform
  • You want to work on content offline, or hand a cleaned-up library to an editor or agency

Your vault holds the time you already invested. Keeping your own copy protects it.

What to back up

Start with media you cannot easily recreate: shoots, customs, anything you sell again. Also worth keeping:

  • Your clean, unwatermarked originals, if you have them. Images and videos in the vault usually carry your own watermark (controlled by a setting in OnlyFans), so a copy from the vault is not the same as your master file.
  • A note of list names and structure, so you can rebuild the same organization later.

The 3-2-1 rule

A simple standard that works for creators too:

  • 3 copies of anything important
  • on 2 different kinds of storage, such as your computer and an external drive
  • with 1 copy somewhere else, such as a private cloud folder

Your vault counts as one of the copies, not all of them.

Ways to get media out of the vault

Because there is no export button, you have three realistic options:

  1. Download items one by one. Fine for a few files, unrealistic for a library.
  2. Use a browser extension. Several exist. Creators report that they can be slow, stall on large vaults, or create duplicates, and some are paid. Check what any tool does with your data before using it.
  3. Use a desktop app built for it. This is what OnlyVault does.

Backing up with OnlyVault

OnlyVault is a desktop app that downloads vault media to your computer in bulk. You sign in on the platform's own website inside the app, and your session is stored encrypted on your computer, so you never share a password.

To back up:

  1. Bind the creator account.
  2. Open its vault and select the items you want, or choose Download this list for a whole list.
  3. Start the download. It runs in the background, with progress you can pause and resume.

Files are saved into a folder per account and per list:

<download folder>/<username>/<list>/

You can change the download folder and the file-name pattern in settings. Names can include the date, ID, type and username.

OnlyVault skips files you already downloaded, so a weekly backup only fetches what is new. If you run several accounts, you can back up each one from the same app.

A weekly routine

  1. At the end of the week, download new vault media.
  2. Check the folder: are the file counts roughly what you expect?
  3. Copy the backup folder to a second location, such as an external drive or private cloud.
  4. Once a month, delete duplicates and unused files from the vault, now that you have a copy. See how to keep a vault organized.

Keeping the folder structure the same as your lists means that if you ever have to rebuild an account, you can upload each folder back into its matching list. See how to upload media straight to your OnlyFans vault.

FAQ

Can I download my whole OnlyFans vault?

OnlyFans does not offer an official bulk export. You can download items one by one or use a tool that downloads in bulk, like OnlyVault.

Will a downloaded copy have a watermark?

Images and videos in the vault usually carry your own watermark, controlled by a setting in OnlyFans. Keep your original files as your master copy.

How often should I back up?

Weekly works for most creators who publish regularly. If you add a lot of media in a single day, back up that day.

What if I use more than one creator account?

Back up each account separately. In OnlyVault you can bind several accounts and download from each one into its own folder.

Is it safe to give a tool access to my account?

Check how the tool signs in. OnlyVault never asks for your password: you sign in on the platform's own website inside the app, and the session is encrypted and kept on your computer.
